‘LOSS OF THE ‘PAREJERO.’
Petty Harbor’s Northern Head
BRINGS ANOTHER SHIP TO GRIEF.
A Load of Malasses.
Another fine ship has come to grief at the Northern Head of Petty Harbor. This time it is the barque Parejero, belonging to Messers. Baine, Johnston & Co., and comanded by Capt. Thoms. She left Barbados about the 8th of April with a load of molasses for this port, and, during dense fog last night, struck near the Northern Head and became a total wreck. The crew escaped; they took a boat, and, after being in her from midnight till 5 o’clock this morning, got safely ashore and were kindly cared for. The captain, in his communication to the firm, says that they lost everything, but are thankful for having their lives spared.
