The Shipwreck Preservation Society of Newfoundland & Labrador presents

Shipwreck Oral History Workshop

Every Newfoundland community has their stories of tragic shipwrecks and of local people lost or rescued. The Shipwreck Preservation Society wants to encourage the collection of this nautical folklore before it is lost forever. Join folklorist Dale Jarvis to learn how to conduct and record interviews to collect shipwreck stories. Dennis Flynn will provide tips on making contact with local sources for shipwreck stories and share some of the better stories he has heard. On Sunday, you’ll also get to conduct and record a shipwreck interview, to apply what we’ve learned. Lunch will be supplied both days.
